This page explains how to permanently delete your Meet Around account and the personal data we hold about you. Meet Around is operated by Noerix OÜ (Estonian registry code 17491545). You have two ways to request deletion: inside the app or by email. Both result in the same outcome.
How deletion works — the 90-day grace period
You can change your mind
When you request deletion, your account enters a 90-day grace period:
- You are signed out of every device immediately.
- Your profile becomes invisible to other users. Your Talks and comments are hidden from the live map and from other users' feeds. Other users can no longer send you new messages or interact with your content.
- Your data is retained in our database during this window, but it is treated as if it does not exist by every read endpoint of the app — no one but you can see it.
- If you change your mind, you can cancel deletion at any time during those 90 days simply by signing back in with the same email + password (or Google / Apple sign-in). Your account is fully restored — profile, Talks, comments, and chat history all reappear exactly as they were.
- If you do not sign in within 90 days, your account and all associated data — including your profile, Talks, comments, chat history, and identity-verification photos — are permanently deleted automatically and irreversibly removed from our active databases. After this point, restoration is no longer possible.
If you want immediate, irreversible deletion without the 90-day window, use the email option below and include the words "delete immediately" in the body. We will process it within 72 hours.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)
Steps
- Open the Meet Around app and sign in if prompted.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Profile.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation dialog and tap Delete Account again to confirm.
Your account is deactivated immediately and the 90-day grace period starts. You will be signed out on all devices.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
Steps
- Send an email from the address you used to register to privacy@meet-around.com.
- Use the subject line: "Account deletion request".
- Include your account email and (if known) your in-app nickname so we can locate the account.
- To skip the 90-day grace period and delete immediately, add the words "delete immediately" in the email body. Otherwise the same 90-day grace period applies as described above.
- We acknowledge receipt within 72 hours and complete the deletion (or start the grace period) within 30 days at the latest, as required by the EU GDPR.
Use this option if you have lost access to the app, uninstalled it, or cannot complete the in-app flow for any reason.
What gets deleted
The following data is permanently deleted or fully anonymized within 30 days of your request:
- Your account profile — name, nickname, email, date of birth, bio, profile photo
- All Talks (posts) you have created, including any photos or media attached
- All chat messages you have sent (recipients will see "Message removed" in their conversation history)
- Comments you have posted on other users' Talks
- Reports you have submitted
- Identity-verification photos (selfie + ID) — if you completed verification
- Push-notification tokens (FCM)
- Stored OAuth identity tokens (if you signed in with Google or Apple)
- Block and trust relationships you have established
- Crash logs and analytics events linked to your account

None of the items above contain data that could identify you to other users. They are kept only to satisfy specific legal obligations and are never used for marketing or product purposes.
About third-party services
Meet Around relies on the following third-party services. When we delete your account, we also instruct each service to delete the data it holds about you:
- Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Storage (Google LLC) — your authentication record, FCM token, and any stored media are deleted.
- Mapbox — Mapbox processes anonymous map-tile requests on our behalf and does not maintain a per-user record we need to delete separately.
- Google ML Kit Face Detection — runs entirely on your device; nothing is stored server-side.
Time it takes
- Day 0 — you tap "Delete Account" (or send the email). You are signed out of every device, your profile and Talks are hidden from other users, and a 90-day countdown begins.
- Days 1–90 — grace period. Your data is retained but invisible to anyone but you. Sign in any time during this window with the same credentials to cancel deletion and fully restore the account.
- Day 90 — automatic permanent deletion. Account, profile, Talks, comments, chat history, identity-verification photos, and analytics linked to your account are removed from active databases. From this point, restoration is no longer possible.
- Day 90 to ~Day 180 — encrypted backups are purged on a rolling basis until no copy of your data remains in any storage layer.
If you used the "delete immediately" option in an email request, Day 0 and Day 90 collapse: permanent deletion is processed within 72 hours; backup purge still completes within ~90 days afterward.
Other privacy rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, and applicable US state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA, TDPSA, OCPA, DPDPA, NJDPA, NHPA, ICDPA, MCDPA, TIPA).
